That Great Chasm

Between what is real and what we hope, there is a vast universe. And though we may distract our awareness with bright lights and ecstatic moments, the real world is, and will always be, a brutal, unforgiving place. In all our hearts, we know this to be true, even though facing it may cause discomfort.

Murarka’s writing is a little spaceship buzzing around that great chasm, bouncing between the cold hardness of stone and the weightless endurance of the human spirit. Where confusion may breed the most vulgar and grotesque of evils, so too does true, pure resolve release an influx of strength.
 
And though hope may not always triumph, as it so often fails to, we are all the better for embarking on this journey. For in exploring the darkness from the safety of a few pages, we may perhaps discover some of that glorious vulnerability we so desperately covet, like a friend we lost long ago.

Ideas that boggle the mind. Concepts that are right in front of us but somehow evade contemplation. Questions we dare not ask. Corners we keep in the dark. All those lost and hidden places where things we don't understand or face reside. Under bridges, beneath rocks, in mute rooms and twisted forests; taboos; the politically incorrect; the censored; Murarka rips it all open.

Unfiltered

There is no censorship here. Not of words nor ideas. This is the realm of the artist. Fuck. Cunt. Dyke. Powerful words that contain entire universes. Nigger. Kike. Faggot. Words that empower us with boundless efficiency. Gorgeousness. Acquiescence. Reverberate. And how much more determinedly we are able to communicate when equipped with the most precise tools available.

Human

And ultimately, to what end? Murarka wants to breed truth, and sometimes, it is more readily discovered through fiction than reality. Stories allow us to ascend mountains we could never climb. Stories take us to darker holes than we'd ever be willing to descend. And as we stretch our nerves, walking these bright skies and terrifying hellscapes, we may discover, perhaps, that we are not quite so different from one another.
