Should offensive ideas ever be censored?
No, I can't think of a reason why. I've really tried hard and I can never think of a reason why.
Ideas are ideas and to me the human race is like a big brain.
So if you were to look at it like a big brain and an individual brain, the same question applies: Is there any benefit to censoring yourself from any idea you could have — no matter how offensive or depraved or disgusting or beautiful it might be?
No. In my mind the brain is a safe space and you can explore and think of anything in your head; as long as you're able to filter it through whatever you actually act on.
So I think ideas as a society are beautiful wonderful things and they allow us to operate as separate nodes — just like synapses in your brain — and you get to think of new things and use each other to be creative and come up with new ideas.
